Temple of Luxor Reconstruction - Part Two

3D reconstruction -Bump Maps

In the Temple of Luxor Reconstruction part one we looked at how the research was done and we finished with the drawing of the battle of Kadesh which decorates the middle part of the pylon. This is called the ‘Image Map’ because it is mapped to the ‘pylon object’
The temple wall must look like it has been painted (image map)

There is a second image applied on top of the image map called the ‘Bump Map’. The bump map creates surface to the object e.g. rough, textured or in this case relief.

The temple wall must look like it has been painted (image map).

This bump map is a black and white line drawing of the image map and the line have been slightly blurred to give a softness to the edges of the relief
